How Do I Begin Therapy?

Let’s get started with your therapy in three easy steps!

  1. You can send us a message using this site using our Contact Us form or call us at 228-456-3116 ext. 0.
  2. Next, we will email the intake paperwork to you. If you prefer, we can fill out the intake paperwork together at your first appointment.
  3. After that, we normally conduct an evaluation that will last from 2 to 4 sessions.During this time, we can both decide whether we are a good fit to provide the services you need to meet your treatment goals. If psychotherapy is started, we will usually schedule one 50-minute session (one appointment hour of 50 minutes duration) per week (or how often we believe it is necessary to meet) at a time we agree on, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent.

Out of Network

You will pay for service upfront at the time of service, and you will be given a special receipt (called a “Superbill”) to give to your insurance company for them to reimburse you. We cannot make any guarantees about how much you will be reimbursed by your insurance company. The first thing to do is to call your insurance company (usually listed on your ID card) and ask questions about your benefits. Be prepared to ask them the following questions:

  1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  2. Are services rendered by a licensed mental health professional covered?
  3. Is any pre-approval required before obtaining out-of-network mental health services in order to be reimbursed?
  4. If I have out-of-network benefits, will I be reimbursed for the full amount I paid or a portion?
  5. Do I have a deductible? And if so, what is it?
  6. What documentation needs to be submitted for reimbursement?

Sliding Fee Scale

This practice serves all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income. For more information, ask at the front desk or visit our website. To see if you qualify, complete the simple application and bring it to your visit along with proof of income and your last tax return.
